5 things you didn’t know about the latest cleansing sponge

As much as we love powered cleansing brushes, there’s a new tool in town climbing the popularity ladder. Meet the konjac sponge! Read on to find out everything you need to know about this nifty little cleanser.

1. Natural and Sustainable
Originated from the root of a plant from the tropical areas of East Asia, the Konjac sponge is 100% natural and made from vegetable fibres. As opposed to other cleansing tools, it does not contain any harmful additives that can be found in synthetic bath products. Also, since it’s 100% biodegradable it can be composted along with your fruits, veggies and plant remains.

2. Sweet and Gentle
Used with a cleansing cream or gel, the sponge removes more makeup and dirt than washing your skin with your hands alone. Talk about great deep cleansing! Its soft texture is perfect for sensitive skin and makes it great for daily exfoliation. It also work wonders with removing dry flakes that are sometimes tricky to get rid off without irritating the skin.

3. Gorgeous Glow
A healthy glow is always on top of the list when it comes to desired skincare effects. As the konjac sponge is excellent with shedding dead skin cells, it leaves you with a smooth and glowy complexion. It might not give the same effect as a facial, but the more you use it the more pronounced the effects will be.

4. Multi Magic
The konjac sponge was invented by Japanese farmers and originally used for washing babies skin because of its gentle texture. Feel free to go beyond your face and use it all over your body for an extra deep clean, especially on specific problem areas or where acne easily surfaces.

5. Clean and Clear
Even though some sponges are antibacterial, they don’t have a self-cleaning quality. Make sure to clean and rinse your sponge thoroughly after using it, and toss it after a month’s use.
